🌱 A Little White Fluff? Don’t Worry!

It’s quite common to notice a little white, fluffy growth on the surface of your coco peat while growing plants in em-Li. In most cases, this is surface mold or fungal growth associated with moist growing conditions. It generally doesn’t harm healthy plants, but we understand that it isn’t the most pleasant thing to look at.

Here’s how to keep it under control:

1. Gently remove the mold
Use a fork, your finger, or another clean tool to carefully remove the visible growth from the surface of the coco peat. In many cases, removing the growth and improving airflow will help keep it from returning.

2. Remove dead plant material
Mold can grow on dead leaves and other plant debris. Regularly remove any fallen or decaying leaves from the coco peat to keep the growing area clean.

3. Keep the surface from staying overly wet
Good airflow and avoiding unnecessarily wet conditions can help reduce recurring surface mold. Make sure your em-Li is placed in a well-ventilated area.

4. Cinnamon is optional
If you’d like, you can try sprinkling a very thin layer of cinnamon over the affected surface. Cinnamon is commonly used as a household gardening remedy for surface fungal growth, although its effectiveness can vary.

Most importantly, don't panic! 🌿
A small amount of surface mold is usually more of a cosmetic issue than a sign that something is seriously wrong with your plant. Remove it, keep the growing area clean, and continue enjoying your em-Li Green.
