Basil is one of the most popular herbs to grow at home – and with em-Li, you can enjoy lush, flavorful plants year-round, right on your counter. 🌿
Sow 20–40 seeds and press them lightly into the coco peat.
Basil seeds germinate quickly and easily, and grow best in temperatures around 20 °C. Here’s how
Fill the pots with coco peat.
Evenly distribute the seeds across the surface.
Press them gently into the cocopeat.
Sprouts will appear after 2–7 days (depends on temperature). Basil grows slowly at first, but speeds up once roots are established and the temperature is right.
Start harvesting after 3–6 weeks (cut above nodes and always leave ⅔ of the plant).
Harvest from the top and cut just above a node (where two new leaves grow out).

Never harvest more than ⅓ of the plant at a time.
Trim regularly – the more you harvest correctly, the more it grows back!
By harvesting from the top and sticking to just ⅓ of the plant, you stimulate new growth. This leads to a bushy plant that keeps producing fresh leaves continuously.
Trim regularly and avoid flowering to keep your basil plant going for up to a year!
With the right temperature and regular harvesting, basil can live for 6–12 months in em-Li! As the plant matures, it will eventually try to flower – when that happens, the flavor becomes stronger and less sweet. To prevent flowering:
Trim the plant regularly and avoid letting the leaves grow too large.
If you notice flower buds, trim the stem just below the forming bloom – this will help extend the plant’s lifespan.
